Sharing & Invite-Only Access Flow
Bookcicle uses a combination of sharing links, invite codes, and access gates to manage how users join, collaborate, and share projects. This guide explains how these workflows operate, what users can expect, and how to troubleshoot common scenarios.
Sharing Projects with Others
Bookcicle allows you to share projects with other users via special invite links. These links can be sent by email and contain all the information needed for the recipient to accept the share.
Accepting a Project Share
When you receive a project invite link:
- Open the link from your email or message.
- Sign in if you are not already logged in. Bookcicle will prompt you to log in before accepting the invite.
- Email Match Check:
- If you are signed in with the same email the invite was sent to, the process continues automatically.
- If you are signed in with a different email, you’ll see a warning. You can either:
- Switch to the invited email account, or
- Accept the invite into your current account (not recommended if you want to keep things tidy).
- Processing:
- Bookcicle will process your acceptance. If successful, you’ll see a confirmation and can go directly to your projects.
- If there’s an error (e.g., invalid or expired invite), you’ll see a clear error message.
Troubleshooting:
- If you see “missing information,” double-check you used the full link from your email.
- If you’re prompted to switch accounts, make sure you’re signed in with the email the invite was sent to.
Invite-Only Registration & Access
At certain times, Bookcicle may restrict new registrations or purchases to invited users only. This helps us manage growth and ensure a great experience for everyone.
How the Invite Gate Works
- Invite Code Required:
- When invite-only mode is active, you’ll be prompted to enter an invite code before you can register or make a purchase.
- If your email is on an allowlist (either individually or by domain), you may be automatically granted access.
- If you have a valid invite code, enter it to unlock access.
- Newsletter Option:
- If you don’t have a code, you can join our newsletter for a chance to receive one. The invite modal includes a quick signup form.
Registration Gate Example
If you try to sign up during invite-only mode:
- The registration form will be hidden until you enter a valid invite code.
- You’ll see a simple prompt to enter your code, plus a newsletter signup option if you don’t have one.
Purchase Gate Example
If you try to purchase during invite-only mode:
- The checkout button will be disabled until you enter a valid invite code.
- Clicking the button will prompt you for your code.
Unlocking Access
- Once you enter a valid code, access is unlocked for your browser for a set period (usually 14 days).
- You won’t need to re-enter your code unless you clear your browser storage or the unlock period expires.
Social Sharing Links
Bookcicle makes it easy to share content on social platforms. Share buttons are available for:
- X (Twitter)
- TikTok
How it works:
- Clicking a share button opens the appropriate sharing dialog for that platform.
- For Instagram and TikTok, if your browser supports the Web Share API, you’ll get a native share dialog. Otherwise, the link is copied to your clipboard with a helpful message.
