Studio Editor
Studio Editor is Bookcicle's workspace for drafting, revising, reviewing, and proving long-form work. It is available in two forms:
- Native Studio is the installed macOS or Windows application. It is designed for focused, local-first writing and includes Writing Coach and native AI editing.
- Web Studio runs in your browser. It is designed for quick access, cloud history, sharing, and collaboration without installing an application.
Both surfaces work with the same basic manuscript model: projects contain sections, sections contain your writing, and meaningful changes can carry history, authorship, and proof information.
Which Studio should I use?

You can use both. Authorship records include the editing surface, so a later history view or proof can distinguish a Web Studio edit from a Native Studio edit.
What Studio keeps track of
Your manuscript
Studio organizes writing into sections such as chapters, scenes, front matter, and notes. The main manuscript keeps the complete order while focused section views let you work on a smaller part.
History
History records meaningful content states so you can:
- return to an earlier version
- compare an older version with the current draft
- see who or what contributed retained text when authorship evidence is available
- create or inspect proof evidence for an important version
Saving a version does not change who wrote the text. It binds the existing content and authorship state to a named point in time.
Authorship
Authorship answers who or what originated the text that remains in the document. Examples include:
- a human author typing or speaking
- an AI workflow creating or revising text
- a collaborator contributing remotely
- pasted or imported text whose original author is unknown
Authorship is different from the person performing an action. For example, the person who pastes a paragraph is known, but Bookcicle does not automatically claim that person wrote the paragraph.
Input evidence
Input evidence describes how a change entered Studio. It records three separate ideas:

Input evidence never replaces token authorship. It adds context to the authorship record.
Comments
Comments let authors, editors, and collaborators discuss a passage without rewriting it. Resolving a comment closes the discussion; it does not silently accept an edit or change authorship.
Collaboration
Live collaboration carries the originating participant with their edit when that identity is available. The computer that saves the shared document is not automatically treated as the author of everybody else's work.
Notary and proof capsules
Notary binds evidence to an exact content state. A proof capsule can package:
- the content proof
- local or cloud receipt information
- the authorship statement when available
- the verification material needed to inspect those claims later
Content proof and authorship proof are checked independently. A valid content proof can remain valid even when older or imported material has no compatible authorship evidence.
A practical author workflow
- Create or open a project.
- Draft in Native Studio or Web Studio.
- Use sections and search to move through the manuscript.
- Add comments instead of rewriting when you want discussion first.
- Review AI suggestions before accepting them.
- Create a named version at a meaningful milestone.
- Inspect History to compare or restore earlier work.
- Export a proof capsule when you need portable evidence for a handoff, submission, or archive.
Feature availability
Some cloud features depend on your plan, project permissions, connection, and rollout environment. Studio keeps editing and proof concepts separate so an unavailable optional service does not invalidate the manuscript itself.
